And now for a different kind of "Trash-Refresh" project! Enter the Cathode Raymond! A 3-watt tube guitar amp built completely from scrap, within an old TV set :-).

A new recording! AT LAST!
Here is what I have been doing in the Musical Creative sense lately, between getting high on Solder fumes :-). Studio Silo had been donated a lovely 1980s Tascam 244 4-track cassette recorder this Summer, so I set about recording a number of songs on it from the drums upwards. Here is the first one complete, with drum mishaps and bass misfrets included! :-)

To get geeky on it now, as that is the theme of this blog, here is the recording process I forced myself to take:
1 - Record guide drum machine along with rough vocals & guitar to tracks 3 & 4
2 - Record Stereo drums (gated kick & snare & 2x Overheads, all buss-compressed) to tracks 1 & 2
3 - Record double-tracked guitars to tracks 3 & 4
4 - Bounce Drums & Guitars onto nearby Stereo Cassette deck while playing bass live as it mixed
5 - Bounce cassette mix back in onto tracks 1 & 2
6 - Record first vocal onto track 4
7 - Perform a 2nd vocal for double-tracking and mix it with track 4 while recording to track 3
8 - Record lead guitar to track 4
9 - Mix four tracks to stereo
10 - Have a strong cuppa and listen back!
11 - Repeat steps 1 through 10 until desired result is achieved (or close enough!)

First Post - hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Well I've finally kicked myself in the ass and started a blog. For quite some time I have wanted to document, while at the same time sharing on the web, all of the things I get up to in the ways of Electronics, recording music, and creating music. These all harmonise (kill the pun!) quite well seeing as the very means by which we record music is Electrical as soon as it passes that microphone...
Anyway! Here's my blog. :-)
